About

My name is Shameer Pv. I am a legal researcher and writer focusing on freedom of religion or belief based in Malaysia.

For years, I have navigated the legal and procedural realities of pursuing religious freedom in this country – not as an observer, but as someone directly affected. That experience has shaped how I understand the law, the institutions that apply it, and the real-world consequences for individuals who find themselves caught between constitutional rights and administrative processes.

This platform exists because too much of what happens in this space goes unseen. The financial burden of pursuing a fundamental liberty. The procedural delays that stretch across years. The emotional weight of standing before a system that was not designed with your situation in mind. These realities are rarely discussed publicly, and even more rarely understood by those who have not lived them.

Between Faith and Law brings together two things that are often kept apart: legal analysis and lived experience. Here, I write about my own journey through the syariah court process, reflect on the personal dimensions of faith and identity, and offer commentary on legal developments, case judgments, and policy issues that affect freedom of religion or belief in Malaysia.

I believe in the rule of law. I believe in peaceful, principled engagement. And I believe that public understanding is a necessary step toward fairer outcomes for everyone – regardless of faith.
